What to Wear to a Concert

What to Wear to a Concert

Dressing for a concert is always a toughy for me, simply because you’re always trying to find the outfit that says “I’m cute, but I’m not doing the absolute most”. Whether it be Beyoncé, One Direction, Taylor Swift, or Nicki Minaj, you need a look that is trendy, easy, and comfortable (somewhat).

So before you throw everything out of your closet and break down in a fit of tears, I have compiled a few outfits that will save you in any concert scenario you find yourself in.

Think Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, etc. You may find yourself in a hip, artsy venue where it’s important to lightly touch the borders of casual with your outfit but still look sophisticated. The boyfriend jeans with the basic tank top are not only comfortable and affordable, but they can easily be dressed up with a pair of boot heels and a nice leather jacket.

Typically you’ll find yourself in a pretty upscale club, where it’s time to dress to impress! Keep it classy and go for a cute romper and a pair of pointed-toe stilettos. The “club” vibe can sometimes make you commit to raunchy make up, platform heels, and clothes that let the sun shine where it normally doesn’t. Fight that urge and doll it up, going for a clean look with a touch of sass.

Now for this type of scenario, you need to be as comfortable as possible. Festival is a fancy word for “a lot of walking with madness all around.” Therefore, you need clothes that are cute and breathable. Just because you had to leave the heels at home doesn’t mean a pair of gladiator sandals can’t take their place. A maxi dress will also give you comfort and style, and it’s lightweight just incase the heat is high.

For all my TSwift and 1D fans, this one is for you! You may find yourself in a huge arena, prepping for some fist pumping action, surrounded by people of all ages (mostly those that may be younger than you). Chances are, it’s a bit weird to bust out the heels. Luckily a simple outfit as such paired with combat boots gives you trendy and pop-concert-appropriate. (You also have a great pair of shoes for stomping crazed fans). To age this outfit, add a sexy pop of color on your lips!

These kinds of concerts happen in intimate spaces, in the coolkid parts of town. The artist performing is probably not signed, local to the community, and ready to give you the most awesome, acoustic jam session of your life. While these kind of shows don’t call for a super dressy look, you need an outfit that is the perfect marriage of chill but hip. A nice blouse paired with high waisted jeans and booties does just that. And you get major style points for a hat and color blocking!

So you’re going to see Kanye and aren’t really sure what outfit works best for a hip-hop concert. The great thing about a concert like this is you can completely go for the comfort of a nice sneaker, or the sass of a pair of high heels. The choice is yours! To me leather leggings are a great way to go as a foundation to a great outfit. You can easily dress them up or down, and they still draw attention. Here a nice piece of outerwear takes this outfit up as well, with some simple gold jewelry. I’d say this is certainly Yeezy approved.
